General information

Fun and informative activity sessions for your reception or key stage 1 group. From local historic figures to globally significant changes and living memory to ancient history, our activities are designed to suit all pupil and curriculum requirements.

Select one of our established packages or speak to us about creating a bespoke learning day. Costs start from £6 per pupil for day workshops.

Standard workshops run from 10am-2pm. If you require a shorter visit please contact us to discuss options.

History within living memory

The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II

Prepare for the 1953 coronation by sorting through household objects from the 1950s, creating decorations, and preparing food for the street party.

Toys through the ages

Investigate how children have played throughout history. Handle and play with original and replica toys and explore historic games, then make your own traditional toy to take home.

National and global change

Prehistoric Britain

This introduction to prehistory allows pupils to handle real stone age tools, learn what it takes to hunt a mammoth and try their hand at cave art.

Romans

Discover some of the many changes that the Romans brought to Britain. Handle real Roman artefacts, discover what people ate, and learn how Romans dressed to impress.

Guy Fawkes

Learn all about the Gunpowder Plot as you try your hand at Stuart-era writing, make some traditional food, and discover the punishments that awaited the plotters.

Great Fire of London

Uncover the lives of people who lived through the Great Fire of London, as you investigate how materials burn, meet a soldier who worked through the blaze and learn to write like Samuel Pepys, whose diary tracked the events of September 1666.

Captain Vancouver

Find out about Captain George Vancouver's life from his birth and early years in Kings Lynn to his adventures mapping Canada. Pupils will meet costumed characters, handle real artefacts, and try some of the food sailors ate on long voyages.

All the fun of the fair

Discover what's special about the King's Lynn Mart by exploring Savages, the King's Lynn company that was world famous for its Victorian fairground rides. Follow the journey of Savage's Galloper horses from design to ride, find out about the science behind steam powered rides, and play traditional fairground games.

Fairytale House

Some well-loved nursery rhyme characters need your help - lots of their belongings have mysteriously vanished in the museum! Can you help find them? 

Christmas Long Ago

Discover how the way we celebrate Christmas has changed over the centuries. Pupils will meet costumed characters and learn about Christmas traditions from Medieval, Georgian, Victorian and 20th century eras. Pupils will have the chance to get hands on with historical artefacts and create traditional festive crafts.
